Program Overview

Our online Medical Administrative Assistant program offers you the opportunity to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CMAA), a versatile and essential role in healthcare. With our comprehensive online training program, you'll acquire administrative skills, preparing you to excel in a variety of healthcare settings, all from the comfort of your own home.

As a participant in our online Medical Administrative Assistant program, you'll receive hands-on training in patient care, medical procedures, and front-office management. Our expert instructors will guide you through the essentials of medical assisting, including taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, drawing blood, and managing patient records. You'll also learn effective communication skills to enhance patient interactions and improve overall patient experiences.

What are you going to learn?

  • Medical Office Management: Students will learn the ins and outs of running a medical office efficiently. This includes scheduling appointments, managing patient records, handling incoming and outgoing communications, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals. They'll also be introduced to various office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems commonly used in healthcare settings.
  • Medical Terminology and Coding: While they may not delve as deeply into medical coding as specialized coders, Medical Administrative Assistants need a foundational understanding of medical terminology to accurately process insurance claims, manage patient records, and communicate effectively with both patients and healthcare providers. Basic knowledge of coding systems like ICD and CPT may also be covered.
  • Healthcare Compliance and Ethics: Given the sensitive nature of medical information, students will be educated on laws and regulations that govern patient privacy, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). They'll learn the importance of confidentiality, ethical considerations in a medical setting, and the procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Patient Relations and Communication: Effective communication is crucial in a medical setting. Medical Administrative Assistants are often the first point of contact for patients, so students will learn how to provide excellent customer service, address patient concerns, and relay important information between patients and medical staff. This also includes skills in managing difficult or emotional situations and ensuring a positive patient experience.
