MyCAA: Unlocking the Potential of Military Spouses Through Education and Career Advancement

# MyCAA: A Military Spouse’s Guide to this Valuable Benefit

As a military spouse, you may be unaware of all the benefits available to you. One of the most beneficial and helpful opportunities available to military spouses is MyCAA, the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts program. This program provides financial assistance to eligible military spouses who are pursuing a license, certification, or Associate’s Degree in a portable career field and occupation.

## What is MyCAA?

MyCAA is a career development and employment assistance program sponsored by the Department of Defense’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program. The program provides up to $4,000 (over two years) of financial assistance to eligible military spouses who are pursuing degree programs, licenses, or credentials leading to employment in high-demand, high-growth portable career fields and occupations.

## Who is Eligible for MyCAA?

In order to be eligible for the MyCAA program, you must meet all of the following criteria:

- You must be a military spouse of an Active Duty Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, or Coast Guard service member.

- You must have a valid military ID card.

- You must be married to an Active Duty service member in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, or O-1 to O-2.

- Your spouse must be on Title 10 military orders, including deployment.

## What Types of Expenses Does MyCAA Cover?

MyCAA covers the cost of tuition, books, supplies, and certain licensing and certification fees. It does not cover room and board, general living expenses, or any other non-educational expenses.

## What Types of Programs Does MyCAA Support?

MyCAA supports programs that lead to a license, certification, or Associate’s Degree in a portable career field. Portable career fields are those occupations that are easily transferable to any location, even if your spouse has to relocate for military service. Examples of portable career fields include: early childhood education, healthcare, business, finance, information technology, and more.

## How to Apply for MyCAA

In order to apply for MyCAA, you will need to create a MyCAA account and complete the application process. Once your application is approved, you will be able to select a school and start receiving financial assistance.

## Where to Find More Information

If you have any questions about the MyCAA program or need help with the application process, you can find more information on the MyCAA website. Additionally, you can reach out to the SECO Military Spouse Career Center for guidance and support.
