Admission Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age to apply and be admitted to the Pharmacy Technician Program

Applicants must take a reading comprehension and math assessment test prior to course enrollment. Passing score of 70% or higher required. This is done after registering in the orientation portal.

Applicants must complete a criminal background check and drug testing.

Registered Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy (Virginia Students Only)

Applicants must be; attending high school, have a GED certificate, or is a high school graduate

Applicant must have demonstrated English language proficiency (including reading, writing and speaking)

Clock Hours

The Program consists of a total of 400 Clock Hours: 180 Didactic Clock Hours, 80 Simulation Hours, 140 Clinical Hours

Duration: 14 Week Program

PTCB National Board Examination Pass Rate 80% (PTCE- Percentage of Examinations Passed/Compared to 70% National Average Pass Rate, 2024) (10% Above National Average)

Basics of Pharmacy Course

This is a course all about becoming a Pharmacy Technician. You will learn you how to handle prescriptions and explain the laws that affect pharmacies.

You will also learn about your role as a Pharmacy Technician and the different ways medicines can be given. We'll teach you how to mix medicines and keep everything clean and germ-free. We'll also talk about the difference between brand-name and generic drugs.

You'll also get to learn about SIG codes, a kind of short language used in prescriptions. Lastly, we'll show you how to handle billing and insurance claims for prescriptions. This course will give you everything you need to know to get started as a Pharmacy Technician.

Pharmacy Calculations Course

This is a course about the important math you need to know as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. You will learn how to how to use formulas and conversions for pharmacy calculations.
